\"Journalists must be educated on gender-sensitive reporting because the media directly influences the way society views women, men and gender roles. Careful reporting helps avoid prejudices, stereotypes and the normalization of violence or discrimination,\" emphasizes Dervishi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n She adds that among the most common mistakes in the media are the use of sexist language, victim-blaming in cases of violence, as well as unnecessary focus on physical appearance rather than professional achievements.<\/p>\n According to her, these practices not only damage journalistic ethics, but also influence the way the public perceives gender issues.<\/p>\n The same need for professional education is highlighted by Ardit Ramadani<\/strong>editor-in-chief of Moll\u00ebkuqja.mk, the first thematic portal in three languages in North Macedonia.<\/p>\n \"When we founded the Moll\u00ebkuqja portal, one of the main challenges was the lack of journalists who were trained to report ethically, sensitively and professionally on gender and LGBTQ+ topics. Every day we see how media outlets, consciously or unconsciously, use discriminatory language in violation of the journalists' code of ethics when reporting on these issues,\" said Ramadani.<\/p>\n In a recent interview given to Mollekuqja Nora Kaliqi<\/strong>chairwoman of the Council for Media Ethics in North Macedonia, stressed that without thematic journalism, media outlets risk remaining at the level of incidents, reporting on consequences rather than causes.<\/p>\n \"It is precisely this form of journalism that holds special value, because it does not stop at the event itself, but seeks to explain the process, the context and the consequences. Thematic journalism continuously addresses topics that often remain outside public attention, such as gender inequality, discrimination, women's rights, gender-based violence, poverty, mental health and the situation of marginalized groups. Therefore, its role is essential not only for informing the public, but also for developing critical thinking, broadening public debate and creating a more socially responsible culture,\" says Kaliqi.<\/strong><\/p>\n In this regard, the Center for Equal Opportunities \"Moll\u00ebkuqja\" recently organized a two-day training for journalists and young people interested in media and gender equality.
